About the Village

El Cerrón is one of our most remote villages, located high in the mountains behind our medical clinic. Because of its location, El Cerrón has very limited access to outside supplies and provisions, making this one of the most malnourished and undeveloped villages we support.

The village is largely supported by agriculture, and because of its high altitude, the terrain is perfect for growing coffee and citrus fruits among other things. However, there is little to no commerce in El Cerrón, and so many of the village’s citizens are homeless. The houses and buildings that do exist are weathered and unstable, and many need to be rebuilt. Over the years, we’ve brought running water to El Cerrón with the installation of autonomous water pumping systems. Additionally, we’ve been able to treat illnesses by through various medical brigades that have traveled here.

Most of our ministries have a footprint in El Cerrón, including training of the village’s pastor Wilfredo Flores, annual Vacation Bible Schools, delivery of Christmas boxes, installation of eco-friendly stoves, and much more. Many teams who travel to Honduras with us have been able to build relationships with the people of El Cerrón by serving them over the years.
